Maiden Win!

Former McLaren designer Adrian Newey claimed his first win with new team Red Bull with his first outright design since leaving the Woking based team. Sebastian Vettel converted his pole position into his second career win in a rain soaked race. The 21 year old drove a perfect race from start to finish, it seems that F1 has a new rain-meister! Jenson Button who is also very good in the wet was left for dust by the young German in the race, it seems that the Brawn isn’t as all conquering as many thought, that said, many people also say that rain is the great equaliser. Mark Webber took the chequered flag in second place to give Red Bull a 1 – 2. Jenson Button finished in a distant third; 45 seconds behind race winner Vettel, followed home by team mate Rubens Barrichello 20 seconds further down the road. Heikki Kovalainen crossed the finish line for the first time this season in 5th with McLaren team mate Lewis Hamilton in 6th. Toyota’s Timo Glock and Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi rounded out the points scorers. Lewis Hamilton could have finished higher if he didn’t keep throwing his car at the scenery in the tricky conditions, I lost count of how many times the Briton had to overtake Kimi Raikkonen after sliding off the track! So all this means that Jenson Button leads the championship, six points clear of team mate Barrichello with Vettel and Glock on 10 points in 3rd and 4th respectively.

This morning Erin and I went for our first sonogram and everything looks good from the pregnancy point of view. But we were surprised to see that Erin is only 7 weeks pregnant as all other advice we have been given previously said that we were a week further along in the pregnancy. So it now looks like it’s going to be an early December baby. We couldn’t see much at this point, but we saw and heard the baby’s heart beating for the first time. We have another appointment to return in four weeks time for another check up, hopefully we should start seeing the baby forming a lot more by that point! That’s all I can report at this time; watch this space! Also over the weekend we took the opportunity to look at some very nice houses in the Wichita Parade of Homes. We looked at some very very nice homes, of course these houses were way out of our price bracket. They were too big and extravagant for our needs, 4 bedrooms, 8 bathrooms and $2m+, raising a young family in those houses wouldn’t be good, we would be constantly telling the kids off for playing on the expensive hardwood floors and granite counters. Something more conservative is definitely in order, at least until the kids grow up and leave home.
