Two out of two!

Both Plymouth Argyle and Liverpool beat their respective opponents on Saturday 4 – 0. Firstly Argyle beat Coventry 4 – 0 to record only their second home win since the start of the year. All four goals came in a 22 minute period of play in the first half with Barnes, Mackie, Judge and even Marcel Seip getting on the score sheet. It does make me wonder where this performance has come from as so far this year our home form has been piss poor. Maybe Sturrock has put them all under the threat of being transfer listed if they don’t perform as their price tag suggests they can. Whatever happened over the International break, let’s hope for more away at Birmingham City on Monday evening. Although the Brummies will be a much tougher task as they are locked in a battle with Wolves at the top of the table. But that said, who would have predicted that Argyle would visit Molineux and come away with three points, anything’s possible!

Liverpool thumped Blackburn 4- 0 at Anfield to keep in touch with Manchester United who also won against Sunderland but only just. The Mancunians still maintain their one point lead over Liverpool with their dramatic win at the Stadium of Light. Blackburn were the unfortunate recipients of a lashing because of Liverpool’s mid-week disaster at Anfield against Chelsea in the Champions League quarter final first leg. The Reds had something to prove after dropping the ball mid-week and showed their determination and class in spectacular style but United still have a game in hand over Liverpool. Chelsea also won but are all but out of the race with only six games remaining. All Benitez’ men can do now is win their games and hope that United slip up on a couple of games to capitalise. And fingers crossed that Liverpool can perform one of their miracle comebacks at Stamford Bridge this Tuesday evening in the Champions League!
