Mixed Fortunes for England fans!

Let’s start with the positive, the English national football team have qualified for the 2010 World Cup with two games to spare. Fabio Capello’s England thrashed Croatia 5 – 1 at Wembley to record their eighth victory in a flawless qualifying campaign. For many England fans this result is sweet revenge after Croatia sent England out of the Euro 2008 qualifying tournament under the useless Steve McLaren. England completely outclassed the Croatian national side with Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard getting on the scoresheet twice while Wayne Rooney put the icing on the cake in the 77th minute. The only tarnish on England’s performance tonight was that they couldn’t keep a clean sheet conceding a goal before Rooney struck! But despite not keeping a clean sheet it was a very polished performance from the Englishmen. England have come a long way since the dark days of failing to qualifying for the Euro 2008 Tournament under McLaren. England’s performance in the world cup 2010 qualifying tournament was excellent posting a goal difference of 26 in just eight games. Dare I utter the words… can England actually win the world cup in 2010? 44 years after the last English world cup win! I’ll silently hope but I won’t be holding my breath on it!

The English cricket team have gone 3 – 0 down in the one day series with Australia. In the second one day international, England fell 39 runs short of Australia’s total being bowled out in 46.1 overs to go 2 – 0 down in the series. In the third test today the Englishmen’s frailties with the bat came up again only posting a meagre total of 228 in their 50 overs. Australia reached and surpassed England’s total with nine balls to spare to win the game by six wickets. England can still mathematically win the series with four games remaining but let’s be honest, it’s not likely looking back at England’s performances in the last two one day internationals, but I still have a little hope!

I have the second interview tomorrow but I am not 100% sure of the details of the meeting. I called the recruitment agency that I got the lead through twice yesterday and twice today and all four times they have failed to call me back. I don’t want to call the employer directly but I don’t see any option if Oasis Staffing won’t call me back with the details. I believe I know the time and place but have no idea of who I am meeting for the interview. This could go awfully pear shaped, I don’t understand why a recruitment agency wouldn’t return my calls. The problem is that the person I dealt with last week is now on holiday for the week and no-one else seems to have the information I require. I hope that the employer doesn’t mind me calling them directly! To say that I am frustrated with this situation is an understatement, all I need to confirm is time, place and person I am meeting, is that such a hard piece of information to find? am I expecting too much?
