I don’t know what to make of the interview to be honest, I have never had an interview like it before. I felt like I was a SEO/SEM consultant rather than being an interviewee. We talked more about SEO/SEM strategy, [my perceived] general website strategy and product shortfalls, having a product that isn’t multi-platform is a major shortfall in my opinion. Especially relying on proprietary Microsoft technologies when browsers like Firefox, Opera and Safari are on the ascendency. I guess I’m not the sort of person that can be a YES man, I believe that I can bring much more to the company than simply selling a product; don’t get me wrong I don’t mind starting out in that role but I want to progress within the company, if having ambition is a crime then I guess that I am a criminal. The position does sound interesting but I am unsure of exactly how the interview went, whether I made a good impression or not? I just went in being myself, being true to who I am, I refuse to pretend to be someone else for the sake of a job. I don’t have the ability to; or want to keep up that act for 8 hours five days a week. I am confident in my skills, it’s up to the employer to recognise those skills, if not there’s plenty more jobs out there! Let’s see if I get a call back for a second interview with the company. I’d rather not work with the employment agency again as they didn’t even confirm the interview with the employer, if I didn’t contact the employer directly the guy that interviewed me wouldn’t have even known that he had a meeting with me. This has been highly frustrating, not a good first impression of the US work system!
