So I am a little late on both but what the hell; it’s been a busy month! The 27th of October marked my 33rd birthday; or as I tell everyone; I’m 21 for the twelfth year in a row. My mother and law bought me a cool hoody for my birthday, it’s black and grey with skulls on it. It seems that she has got my taste down. The white Guinness hoody she got me for Christmas isn’t so much my taste but it’s appreciated. It’s also this very blogs sixth birthday on the 8th of October; six years of my life in digital form; although probably half of the entries are ranting about something of another.
President Obama has been up most of the night as he publicly honoured the American war dead with a traditional salute as their bodies arrived back on United States soil. Something that his predecessors never did; although CBS news pointed to George Bush Junior and Senior who both started wars that claimed thousands and American and British lives, like father, like son! President Obama also met with the bereaved families privately. I think it’s great that President Obama is showing such humility in honouring the men and women that are fighting for their country. I don’t agree with the war in Iraq and make no bones about it but the soldiers that fight in this illegal war do a wonderful job. I like seeing a human side of a US President; unlike George W who is an idiot, I’ll leave you with this Bushism “Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.“
In other local news; I have applied for a job (among many others) with CCH as a technical support representative and I’m hopeful of getting this one as the client service supervisor from the employment agency said my resume is the best she has seen so far. I have just finished filling out the masses of paperwork which will be returning shortly. I am hopeful but not banking on this after the ridiculous situation with BoldChat and Oasis Staffing a couple of months back!
[Update: 12:05pm] No matter how bad people think I am driving; there’s always some asshole in a big truck who is worse. I just dropped off the rest of my paperwork and on the way back I got stuck in the turning lane; which is easy to do if you are not used to the road system as the roads aren’t very clearly marked here in Wichita. So I slowed down and indicated to turn into the correct lane and the guy beside me kindly let me in. Then a dick in a grey Ford F150 comes speeding up behind me blaring his horn at me; could he not see that I was slowing down and indicating to turn? Slow down you fucking idiot! it’s pouring with rain and visibility is poor, it seems to me that he wasn’t paying attention to the road conditions or other road users. Even the woman beside me at the lights looked at me wondering what all that was about. I have been driving two weeks in the US and I already feel the road rage building up, I was very tempted to go after the idiot but thought better of it, realising that as I am in America; and that person probably has a gun and is willing to use it! I’d rather not get shot a month before my baby daughter is born!
