My New Ride! I Plymouth Argyle on the Rise?

As mentioned before a couple of months ago I have a new (used) car and yesterday I got my hands on it for the first time. It’s a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier, it makes a nice noise when giving it some beans but it’s looks much older than 2002 on the inside and it doesn’t even have a CD player and it’s not going to be easy to replace as I would need to dismantle the whole dashboard to get at it. So I would have to have it installed professionally. But it does sound nice, it seems to have a subwoofer built into the car somewhere as that much low end can not come from those tiny speakers I see in the doors. It drives well enough, the pedals are nicely weighted although the accelerator sits much further back than the brake which feels odd especially as I keep on hitting my knee on the steering wheel every time I brake. The steering almost feels disconnected from the wheels at times because the power steering is so light. Overall it’s a decent car for $0, I really can not complain, it’ll get me from A to B, that’s all I need from it, although the 7mpg it gets is poor for a 2.2 litre engine, my wife’s focus is also a 2.2 litre and that gets more than 25mpg.

Things are looking up for Plymouth Argyle; following on the heels of the Pilgrims 0 – 1 victory over Cardiff City away from home. Paul Mariner’s team notched up a second win, this time 4 – 1 against Reading in front of a jubilant Home Park crowd. Alan Judge got on the scoresheet twice with Kari Arnason and Ashley Barnes also getting in on the action. This win moves Plymouth up another place in the league to 22nd. A few more wins on the trot could see Argyle up to the giddy heights of mid-table. Plymouth also held Newcastle United to a 0 – 0 draw at Home Park in the FA Cup third round this weekend, the Plymouth fans now face a long journey upto St James Park for the replay. Paul Mariner definitely seems to have pulled the team together after Sturrock’s departure.

And finally, HAPPY NEW YEAR Y’ALL!!! Here’s to a great and prosperous 2010!!!
