We took Conner to see an autism specialist yesterday and he confirmed our suspicions that Conner is autistic; the psychologist said that he exhibits all the hallmarks of a high level functioning autistic which basically means he is very intelligent but has problems with transition, socialisation and poor attention. we now need to come up with $1000 to get Conner officially evaluated at the clinic to be able to get government assistance for future treatment as this is not going to be cheap. We are happy that we are finally making progress with getting Conner assessed and diagnosed but frustrated that it’s going to cost so much to complete that process which is hard for us to swallow given that I am currently out of work and have no idea of how long it’ll take to get back into employment. Also yesterday we went to the Budget car rental on Kellogg and again; they are going to force us to take the additional full coverage insurance but given that we are a week away from our trip; we are going to take it as I suspect that all other rental places are going to be the same with loads of hidden charges. That doesn’t mean that I am happy about it but it seems to be the way it works here in the US; land of opportunity; I have never heard such a bunch of bullshit; the only opportunity I see is to get screwed royally! Which gives me an even bigger incentive to get things together to get back to the UK with my family for a better life.
In sports related stuff Liverpool ended their dismal season being knocked out of the Europa cup at Anfield by a late away goal from former Manchester United striker Diego Forlan. This game just about sums up this season for Liverpool especially with rumours flying that manager Rafael Benitez is about to leave Anfield for Juventus over the summer despite signing a new contract with the reds. We’ll see what happens with that; to be honest I wouldn’t be unhappy if Benitez were to leave; I can’t see Liverpool winning the league while Benitez is in charge at Anfield. Liverpool still have a chance of getting fourth spot but Liverpool need to win their remaining games if that is to happen and even then the Merseysider’s will have to rely on other results, but there’s still hope!
