Liverpool drop into the bottom three after loss to Blackpool

The Reds drop into the bottom three of the Premiership after losing 1 – 2 to newly promoted Blackpool at Anfield. The Merseysiders are just one point off the bottom of the table and a massive 12 points off league leaders Chelsea after seven games. When asked, Roy Hodgson said that it is unacceptable for a team like Liverpool to only claim six points from a possible 21 points. No-one would expect a team with such a rich history of league [old division 1] and European success to be struggling at the bottom of the top league. There is a real possibility of going down this season should the multi-million pound players keep on failing to show their full potential. We all know what players like Fernando Torres can do but at this time, these “top players” are looking like a bunch of amateurs. Compare Blackpool’s wage bill and Liverpool’s and look at the comparative performances; Ian Holloway’s team certain have the better bang for your buck. Of course there are already murmurs that the Liverpool board are looking to fire Hodgson from his managerial post. A new manager isn’t the solution; getting the massively overpaid players to perform is the difficult part, the Red’s still haven’t replaced Xabi Alonso in the middle of the park; he was a true playmaker that made the Liverpool squad so great and wasn’t bad in front of goal himself. I could talk about the game itself but frankly the performance was so poor that I won’t waste valuable words on the piss poor performance at Anfield on Sunday afternoon! The only way is up I guess!!!

The Catholic Church is at it again; this time criticising the Nobel Prize Committee for awarding the Nobel Prize for Medicine to Professor Robert Edwards. The Briton is known as the father of IVF (in-vitro fertilisation) treatment. The treatment has brought happiness to nearly four million parents helping them to have children where God didn’t provide means for them to have children the natural way. Ignacio Carrasco de Paula has hit out at the Nobel Committee for giving Professor Edwards the award labelling it “completely out of order” and the award “ignored the ethical questions raised by the fertility treatment”. I really get pissed off by the Catholic churches high and mighty holier than thou attitude. The Vatican needs to take a long hard look at itself; criticising the Nobel Committee and IVF treatment when Catholic priests worldwide are sexual abusing children, that’s hypocrisy of the highest order. Personally I believe the Catholic Church should shut the fuck up and keep their noses out of other people’s business passing judgement on others when they have no right! I have no issue with anyone’s faith but I believe religions should have tolerance for others way of life, rather than using their power base to criticise and (attempt to) change other peoples beliefs. On a side note; one of the oldest religions on the planet; druidism has officially been given “religion” status which entitles it to the same tax breaks as more orthodox religions like the Catholic and Church of England religions.
