At this point I am more relieved that Bradley Wright-Phillips has finally left Home Park to get him off the payroll. The son of former Arsenal and England striker Ian Wright was almost certainly one of the players still on Championship wages which is putting such great pressure on the Argyle coffers. Although he is a great player, he is useless sat in the dressing room unable to play because of potential transfers and injuries. The lucky buyer is the team that beat Argyle 2 – 0 over the weekend at the Valley; Charlton Athletic. I still fear for the future of the Pilgrims, let’s face it; four losses out of five games since Wright-Phillips has been absent from the squad, not a good omen is it? I fear that Argyle could slump to a second successive relegation especially given the leaky defence and the current transfer embargo the club is under because of the current winding up order. On the other hand, maybe that is what Argyle need; a good kick up the backside being relegated to League 2 and build the club up on solid foundations again like Paul Stapleton and Paul Sturrock did after the dark days of when Dan McCauley owned the club. Hopefully the Japanese investors, Kagami and co. will disapear; if they are not willing to put money in to save the club then they should do the honourable thing and relinquish their shares in Plymouth Argyle FC! Kagami, Keith Todd and Roy Gardner were the worse thing to happen to the club in it’s 108 year history, yes even worse than Dan McCauley and that’s saying something!
