Liverpool beat Sparta Prague by the narrowest of margins in the second leg of their Europa Cup match to make it through to the last 16 in the competition. A very late Dirk Kuyt goal was all the separated the teams after 90 minutes; Liverpool were expected to walk it at Anfield but the Czech side made it difficult for the Reds. The Sparta keeper did well to deny Dalglish’s side time and time again either through direct saves or standing tall making it difficult for the likes of Kyrgiakos, Meireles and Ngog to find the back of the net. Kyut finally found the back of the net with a headed effort to give Kenny Dalglish his first ever win in Europe as a manager. Dalglish even praise former manager Roy Hodgson for his efforts to get the Reds to the knock out stages. In fairness to Hodgson he did well in Europe; it was his league managerial skills that were lacking. Hopefully Liverpool can regain momentum this Sunday in the league; the Reds face West Ham at the Boleyn Ground. On paper Liverpool should win this clash but with West Ham being relegation threatened; I expect them to be dangerous; I’m always wary of facing bottom three clubs.
Plymouth Argyle have reached rock bottom; the coffers have been completely emptied; and the players have still not been paid their January wages, the club is certain to go into administration but it’s all good; Peter Ridssale is confident that everything will work out! How much longer will the staff and players stick around unpaid; the staff particularly need their wages to survive; they’ll have no option but to seek alternative work; they are effectively doing charity work at this time. I really do hope that Ridsdale is right and someone will buy the club as a going concern but I don’t see the club being attractive to buyers; completely broke, debts in excess of £10m, bottom of the league, almost certain relegation candidates this season and falling attendances at Home Park!
I went out an bought my wife a Acer Aspire One netbook computer to replace her laptop that met with a sticky end; our son threw up a cup of water all over it. I was pleasantly surprised by it’s performance, not the fastest machine in the world; not the fastest machine in our apartment by a long shot but decent enough for basic use. The main thing is that Erin is happy with it as she is the one that will be using it. Although I did have ulterior motives; I want to claim my own laptop back; when it comes to computers I like to have it available at all times, I spend a lot of time online.
