For the 96, You’ll never walk alone! Liverpool 3, Man City 0!

Before the game there was an impeccable one minute silence observed by both sets of fans for the victims of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989. And Liverpool avenged their 3 – 0 defeat at the City of Manchester Stadium with a 3 – 0 win at Anfield to honour those loyal 96 Reds fans, Liverpool only need to beat Arsenal at the Weekend and the Reds will have beaten all the top four teams. Andy Carroll is definitely back from injury as the £35m man struck a fantastic long range ball to put the home side into the lead in the 13th minute. Dirk Kuyt struck a superb ball from outside the 18 yard box to make it 2 – 0 on the stroke of the 33rd minute, then 90 seconds later Carroll claimed his second goal for the Reds with a close range headed goal in the 35th minute. A 3 – 0 win over Manchester City is one hell of a way to mark the 22nd anniversary on Friday of the Hillsborough disaster in which 96 Liverpool fans were killed when more fans were let into an already overcrowded Leppings Lane end at the Sheffield stadium. For the 96; you’ll never walk alone! Liverpool edge closer to the top four positions but it’s still a big ask as Liverpool will need to win all the remaining games and hope Manchester City and Tottenham slip up, Liverpool are now only eight points away from City in fourth place; keep the faith, it could still happen, let’s hope that Kenny Dalglish (which incidentally gets corrected to English by my spell checker, the Scot will not like that) gets the nod ahead of another other potential Reds managers as he is clearly the man to take the club forward over the next few years; it’ll be a big mistake is that doesn’t happen!
