Liverpool have moved to the top of the Premiership with a dominant victory over Bolton Wanderers at Anfield! This performance reminds me of Liverpool of old; fluid football, moving the ball around, constantly getting into goal scoring positions. The players look happy to be wearing the Liverpool shirt, the morale is sky high, could this be the first year that Liverpool win the Premiership, since it’s inception back in 1992? Luis Suarez is really something special, certainly a worthy replacement for Spanish striker Fernando Torres, better in my opinion, the Uruguayan just seems to be everywhere, involved in every goal in some way. Two of the new boys got on the scoresheet today, Jordan Henderson scoring 15 minutes into the game, and Charlie Adam scored eight minutes after the half time break. Martin Skrtel scored the second goal just one minute before Adam made sure of the result. The only downside to today’s performance was Jamie Carragher’s mistake that led to the Bolton consolation goal literally seconds before the full time whistle, but still a strong result!
I know that realistically, Liverpool will not be top of the league by tomorrow evening with Manchester United and Manchester City both playing tomorrow, but I will enjoy the Reds being league leaders overnight. Suffice to say, I will be a Tottenham and Arsenal supporter tomorrow afternoon. Watching the Sky Sports coverage of the Liverpool game; I’m amazed that all the pundits were writing off Liverpool’s chances of winning the Premiership; the pundits were talking like Liverpool can’t do any better than fourth, we’re three games into the season, it’s too early to predict anything. Judging by today’s performance I can see Liverpool challenging for the title but that said, but it’s early days, it’s too early to predict what will happen in the next 35 games.
Plymouth Argyle on the other hand are bottom of League Two after a fourth consecutive league defeat to Crewe. The visitors were the better side; Plymouth looked nervous from the outset and that pretty much set the tone for the game. Neither team really got to grips with the game but Crewe found the back of the net just before half time, unlike the Pilgrims! The lack of experience in the Argyle squad is really showing, even more so after the departure of defender Stephane Zubar on Thursday. Will there be any money coming to allow Peter Reid to strengthen his squad with more experienced players? The deal with BIL/PAFC (125) Limited is still up in the air, no money has been deposited in the administrators account, Guilfoyle is satisfied that Heaney/BIL have the money, which means nothing, until the cold hard cash has been paid; I’ll believe it!
Funny enough, I found the following status on one of my friends’ profiles on the bloomin’ facebook:
BBC Breaking News: 1 Million Pound price tag has been put on Gaddafi………. Man.City have bid 40 million.
To be honest, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least ;)
