Argyle inching their way to safety while Liverpool drop back to 8th!

Plymouth Argyle claimed three vital points against fellow strugglers Bradford City; who dropped to 20th place after this defeat to the Pilgrims. A single goal was all that separated the teams after ninety minutes at Home Park on Saturday afternoon. This win moves the Pilgrims up another place to 21st place, four points above the relegation places and only two points off 18th place.

On loan Preston North End striker Juvhel Tsoumou scored the only goal of the game, heading in Paul Wotton’s free kick into the box from close range in the fourth minute of the game. Later, Robbie Williams saw his shot rebound off the post, hit Bradford keeper Matt Duke and out while Paul Wotton forced a fantastic save from the Bradford keeper in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Argyle keeper Jake Cole also had work to do to keep a clean sheet and assure the Pilgrims all three points. Cole making a great double save, firstly parrying Guy Branston’s shot and then blocking Lee Bullock’s follow up shot in the 88th minute of the game. Cole’s save was of great relief to the Home Park faithful as Argyle have been denied points by last minute strikes this season!

Liverpool were dealt a massive blow to their aspirations of Champions League football next season being beaten 2 – 0 by Newcastle United at St. James Park. It seems to me that the Reds have completely fallen apart, desperation is setting in, Andy Carroll booked for diving and Pepe Reina saw red in the last 10 minutes headbutting James Perch after the defender unfairly challenged the Spaniard. The Liverpool keeper will miss the next three games, including the FA Cup semi final against local Merseyside rivals Everton! Ridiculous behaviour from the veteran Liverpool player!

Liverpool have dropped to 8th place behind Everton after their Merseyside rivals beat West Bromwich Albion 2 – 0 at Goodison. Papiss Cisse scored both goals for the Magpies, one in the 19th minute and another 40 minutes later in the 59th minute. Craig Bellamy came closest to scoring seeing his shot glance off the crossbar. I don’t know what is going on but Liverpool have gone to shit in the last month, it almost seems like the Reds are concentrating on cup glory much to the disadvantage of their league aspirations. It’s really not good enough and Kenny Dalglish knows it!
