More disappointing form from Liverpool, one win, one draw and one loss!

Liverpool could only manage four points from a maximum of nine over the past two weeks. These three results do move the Reds upto 12th and keeps Liverpool out of the relegation places. But the Reds are only four points away from Southampton in 18th; and 10 points off West Brom in fourth.

Going back to November 17, Liverpool convincingly beat Wigan in what was only Liverpool’s second home win this season. Star of the show again was Luis Suarez; the Uruguayan netting twice on 47 minutes and 58 minutes for the Reds while Jose Enrique made it 3 – 0 in the 65th minute.

Moving forward to November 25, Liverpool were frustrated by Swansea as manager Brendan Rogers returned to the Liberty Stadium. The Reds were denied first by the off-side flag, Jose Enrique’s goal being disallowed and secondly Raheem Sterling hit the crossbar. Ashley Williams came closest to netting for the home side but was denied by Joe Allen’s goal line clearance. The game was fairly even over the course of 90 minutes, I think that a no-score draw is a fair result, another point gained!

And finally, Wednesday, November 28, Liverpool suffering a 2 – 1 defeat at White Hart Lane. Two early Tottenham goals sunk the Reds; Aaron Lennon scoring from inside the six yard box on the 7th minute and Gareth Bale made it 2 – 0 in the 16th minute with a goal scored from a 25 yard free kick. Bale even scored the Liverpool; directing Gerrard’s shot goalbound, which spurred on the Reds to grab an equalizer, but it wasn’t to be, Luis Suarez, Daniel Agger and Jose Enrique all going close.

I understand that a new manager needs time to build his own squad and get them playing at their best, but the way things are going, a relegation battle is more likely than challenging for a top four place. The squad should be playing much better than they are; the only shining light that I can see is Liverpool’s most controversial player, Luis Suarez. Dalglish was sacked for similar results at the end of last season; will FSG allow Rogers time; or ditch the manager, Roman Abramovich style!
