Plymouth Argyle claim first win after seven game lean spell!

Over the last few weeks; Plymouth Argyle have been as inconsistent as ever; and despite what many have predicted; Carl Fletcher is still in-charge at Home Park ahead of the local derby against Exeter City. Plymouth have lost two and won one game; including exiting the Football League Trophy on penalties; but that isn’t important; all that matters right now is League 2, no more cup distractions.

Let’s start with the positive; the 2 – 0 win over York at Home Park last Saturday; Argyle’s first win in eight games. And for the first time in a while, Argyle were the better team on the day. The Pilgrims going ahead just before the half time break; York’s Jamal Fyfield bundling the ball over his own goal line. Nick Chadwick put the game out of the reach of the visitors in the 90th minute after coming on as a 73rd minute substitute. A good win for Argyle, let’s hope for many more to come!

Two weeks earlier; Argyle lost to Chesterfield by a single goal courtesy of Marc Richards; I haven’t seen the game; but Fletcher did his usually broken record post match talk about being the better team and all the sort of guff. All that matter is three points at the end of the day; whether you have more possession, or only lose by one goal; it’s still a loss and no points going into the kitty!

I’m not even going to talk about the League Trophy as it’s inconsequential; Argyle were never going to win any silverware this season; finishing in the top half of the table is much more important!
