Brendan Rogers Liverpool FC are still suffering from massive inconsistency and let’s be honest, teams don’t fear Liverpool anymore like they did back in the day, teams believe they can come to Anfield and walk away with a handful of points, Fortress Anfield no longer exists. In the last four weeks, the Reds were knocked out of the FA Cup by League 1 Oldham Athletic and also dumped out of the Europa League by Zenit St Petersberg on the away goals rule, despite a Liverpool fightback!
Also within those same four weeks, Liverpool have only claimed five points from a maximum of 12 points; including two away 2 – 2 draws with Arsenal and Manchester City, a 0 – 2 loss to West Brom at Anfield and a 5 – 0 victory over Rogers’ former club Swansea. Despite this inconsistent form; Liverpool remain in the Premier League top seven, albeit nine points adrift of Tottenham Hotspur in fourth! Given the Reds form, overhauling those nine points will be incredibly tough going!
I understand that this year was always going to be a building year but at the start of the season, the aim was to achieve Champions League football in 2013/14. Now because of the inconsistent form, the Reds will struggle to achieve that goal as the teams around them, Everton, Arsenal and Tottenham are not likely to slip up enough for Liverpool to overhaul the nine point deficit!
