Unreliable Cox Communications Net Connection & Missing W-2 Tax Form.

Over the last couple of weeks; the uptime percentage of Cox Communications Internet service has been atrocious, losing an average of 2 hours of Internet connectivity each day because of line sync issues, giving an uptime of only 92%, you’d expect better when paying $54 each month for service. It’s gotten to the point now where we have decided to cancel the service and give AT&T a try; AT&T have just rolled out their fiber optic network in the Wichita area, which I hope will be more reliable!

As I work from home, my wife is completing a degree online and we receive all our entertainment via IP services; Netflix, Hulu etc; a stable Internet connection is a must, I really can’t afford to be losing 2hrs of working time every day. I have given up on Cox technical support; too many people with no knowledge reading from a script; the stock response after the scripted troubleshooting questions is “we’ll send out an engineer”. The problem is clearly an infrastructure issue; we’ve had these same issues for four years now, probably a case of asking too much of an aging infrastructure, hence the constant line sync issues, the connection can go down as much as six times each day!

We (hopefully) will be moving into a larger home in about five weeks time, so we’ll cancel the Cox Internet service and get AT&T installed a couple of days before we move in. But all this could be on hold because my wife still hasn’t received her W-2 tax form from her previous employer which means that we can not file until it is received; well that’s not quite true, but we don’t want to file without it; then having to file an amended return later with the possibility of having to owe taxes. We need our tax refund to make this move; there is no way to can come up with the money to move while paying all our current bills. We are so frustrated right now; we wanted to file in early February!
