First game without BWP and Argyle get thumped 3 – 0!

It looks like Argyle’s fans’ worst fears have come true; Bradley Wright-Phillips did not play today and we got beaten 3 – 0. Wright-Phillips was unavailable to play because he is having talks with Championship side Reading. Which means Reading must have tendered an offer that was to the liking to the board. If Wright-Phillips does leave Home Park, he’ll be the third major player to leave in the first eight days of the transfer window. Plymouth lost their major play-maker Craig Noone to Brighton at the beginning of January and key defender Reda Johnson left Home Park for Hillsborough on the 4th January. Plymouth rejected a reported £20 – £30,000 from Ian Holloway’s Blackpool, which is insulting given the form the striker is in! Not too much point in talking about the drubbing by Bournemouth; Plymouth look impotent and lacking in ideas in front of goal without Wright-Phillips’ influence. I thought that Wright-Phillips was an inspirational type player that spurs the whole team on. I’m massively disappointed that Argyle have let BWP go; proven goal scorers are pretty thin on the ground at Home Park right now, BWP was Argyle’s best hope of staying up this season! I guess the people I am really angry at are the people that took over the running of the club, Sir Roy Gardner and Keith Todd. They came in with their “five year plan” making big promises and delivered on none of them, instead led the club into debt then disappeared when the going got tough and I’m still baffled by Peter Ridsdale’s appointment!

Better news for Liverpool; Roy Hodgson has left Anfield by mutual consent it has been reported. I definitely question the mutual consent part of the report, given the fans feelings and recent results (three losses in the last four games), I believe he was pushed before he could walk. Especially given his rallying call for Liverpool players and fans to up their performance for the cup tie tomorrow with Manchester United. Kenny Dalglish will replace Hodgson until the end of the season which will please many fans, personally I question the managerial ability of the former player and Reds legend! But frankly he can not do any worse than Roy Hodgson, winning only seven games out of 20 is poor form for a glass of water let alone Liverpool Football Club. The last time the Reds started this poorly in a season, they got relegated to the old division 2; not a good omen, hopefully Kenny can turn things around; a top four finish is still not out of the question!
